Question: My motor car insurance company is trying to duck a claim saying I didn’t send in a payment, even though I know I did. What can I do about it? Thank you for your help.

Answer: Your motor car insurance company will probably have to cover your claim provided you can prove you sent in the premium they are claiming you missed. If there is a cancelled check stub that should be sufficient.

Most insurance companies are not out to deny claims for no reason and as long as you are able to show you paid the premium you should be in good shape. The bad publicity they receive in such cases is worse than simply paying the claim in many cases.

If you do not have a cancelled check you can still dispute the denial, but it may be more difficult. Your motor car insurance company may indeed fight the claim, however, they are also required to notify you of their plan to cancel your policy. If they did not do so they may be forced to pay the claim. Follow up with the local division of insurance in order to file a complaint. Good luck in your case.
